VI Tribute to the Indians of Cantabria
Last Saturday, July 23rd, the traditional party honoring the Indianos of Cantabria took place outside our offices on Paseo de Pereda.
“Last Saturday, the Mikeli real estate agency brought back its tribute gala for the Cantabrian indianos, an event they have organized every summer since 2015 to coincide with the start of the Santiago festivities. It was a major social gathering that, following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, once again reunited clients, friends, entrepreneurs, and prominent figures, including the Mayor of Santander, Gema Igual, and her brother José Manuel Igual, Mayor of Arnuero, among others.

Antonio Avilés, CEO of Mikeli, and Galia Fuentes, Office Director, served as hosts for the event, which gathered around a hundred people outside the main office at Paseo de Pereda No. 35, where a Mexican-themed cocktail party was held. The Aztec nation and Mikeli share deep-rooted ties. ‘In the Paseo Pereda offices, tickets and luggage were handled for all the shipping line’s vessels covering routes to Miami, Veracruz, and Havana during the 1950s,’ recalls Antonio Avilés. ‘Part of our office decor is a tribute to the most famous ship on one of those routes, the Marqués de Santillana from the Transatlántica company, and we still preserve original pieces from that era. Many indianos returned, others did not, but we pay homage to all of them every summer.’”
