What if… we move to the environs?

The lockdown decreed by the COVID-19 crisis has given us a lot to think about. Being confined for nearly two months in homes without a terrace or balcony has made us truly value these outdoor spaces.

In turn, this has led many people to consider “escaping” from the city center in search of a bit of peace and quiet. As a result, there is a growing demand for homes located in more rural environments.

Next, if you are interested in a change of scenery or simply acquiring a second residence in a natural setting, we are going to share the advantages that will make you want to live outside the city.

  1. More Space. Increasing your square footage with a new home is always a smart move. Having a guest room, a walk-in closet, a gym, or being able to distribute each room to your liking across different floors and environments—not to mention a private garden to tend to, a pool for the hottest days, or a garage with more capacity. Ultimately, a more spacious home is always more comfortable and provides endless plans without the need to leave.
  2. More Peace and Quiet. We can all agree that homes in the city center don’t compare to those on the outskirts when it comes to noise. Crowds (which are very inconvenient right now), rush-hour traffic jams, and city noise can be quite bothersome. In contrast, in more secluded private areas, we can enjoy greater tranquility—the independence that a house provides, without neighbors and away from the noise. In short: true privacy.
  3. Enjoying a Garden. Having a garden is one of the greatest pleasures in life, especially when the good weather arrives. Who doesn’t love coming home after a hard day’s work to relax outdoors with a good book or an appetizer with the family? A well-kept garden adds value to the property, making it more beautiful and attractive while gaining freshness and elegance. Outdoor spaces are an extension of the interior; decorating them to our taste makes them more inviting and helps create a homier environment. Filling it with flowers and plants has one major advantage: they never go out of style. Besides their decorative value, you can also create your own vegetable patch: planting edible herbs, aromatic plants, fruits, and vegetables. It’s just a matter of choosing the plants that benefit you most. This space offers a multitude of outdoor activities: creating a “chill out” zone, a play area for the little ones, adding a pool, or hosting Sunday barbecues with friends. A garden offers endless possibilities.
  4. Practicing Sports. Finding areas to go for a run or jog in the center is much harder than finding a restaurant or a shop—unless you live right next to a park. in more remote areas, it is much easier to find open spaces away from crowds to exercise. This is when we need it most; the phased easing of lockdown forces us to exercise at specific times, which can lead to many people gathering in the same spot, making us feel overwhelmed. Therefore, one of the great advantages of living away from the city center is the abundance of places where you can enjoy nature and calm.
  5. More Cost-Effective. Generally, homes located away from the urban core tend to be more affordable, even though they are often much more luxurious. They offer more space and large private estates. And we aren’t just talking about the purchase price; in these types of homes, there are no community fees to pay, and local shops nearby don’t usually have inflated prices. Therefore, living on the outskirts can be much more profitable.
  6. Ideal for Pets. Making your companion happy is very easy: simply look for a place near green zones and the countryside. This will always be the best landscape for your beloved pet’s walks. Dogs can get very stressed by the hustle and bustle of the city; being in contact with nature in a calmer environment is much better for their health.
  7. Moving Faster Through the Phases. Given the uneven pace of the de-escalation plan announced by the Government, it has been shown that areas with lower population density (almost always those furthest from the city) move through the phases faster, meaning they could reach that “new normal” sooner.

Living on the outskirts grants us the gift of being in constant contact with nature, living with more peace, more space, and more privacy—free from annoying noises or crowds. Living outside the city is simply a world of advantages.
