VIII Tribute to the Indians of Cantabria

Last Saturday, July 20th, despite the rain, we celebrated the 8th Gala Tribute to the Cantabrian Indianos. The event, held outside our offices on Paseo de Pereda, brought together a great number of people who refused to let the weather dampen their spirits.

Mikeli Real Estate organized its traditional tribute to the Cantabrian indianos, an event held every summer since 2015 to coincide with the start of the Santiago festivities. The celebration once again reunited clients, friends, entrepreneurs, and prominent figures, including the Mayor of Santander, Gema Igual.

Antonio Avilés, CEO of Mikeli, and Galia Fuentes, Office Director, served as hosts for the evening, which saw the participation of around a hundred guests. Despite the rain, attendees enjoyed a Mexican-flavored cocktail, reflecting the deep-rooted ties between the Aztec nation and Mikeli. “In the offices at Paseo Pereda, tickets and luggage were handled for all the shipping line’s vessels that sailed the routes to Miami, Veracruz, and Havana during the 1950s,” recalled Antonio Avilés. Our office decor pays homage to the ship El Marqués de Santillana, of the Transatlántica company, preserving original pieces from that era. Every summer, we pay tribute to all those indianos who made that journey—some returned, others did not, but all are remembered with great affection.

We wish to express our most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended, braving the rain and making this celebration a truly memorable event.
